Bazaar Bizarre wrap up - May 27, 2010 22:10
- By: NoisyPenguin
We got back from Bazaar Bizarre at the Maker Faire very, very late on Sunday night, but I'd like to report that we had a fantastic time and sold lots. (We're almost out of oven mitts again! I'll get to work on replenishing the stock for the website soon.) And a woman that bought some oven mitts last year came back and bought two more - then she said that they were the best oven mitts she'd ever had in her life so she had to buy more to give to friends! That made my weekend, let me tell you.
Last year's Maker Faire was our very first craft fair and we were a little overwhelmed and didn't get a chance to look around much, but now that we're a little more comfortable with doing shows,

from outer space...
You may be asking yourself what the heck happened to the website and why it's taken us awhile to get it back up. The short answer is that our server died the day after
Unique L.A. and took a lot of our content with it. Ouch.
The long answer is that things have been kind of crazy. We've been busy with fixing the website, certainly, but other stuff too. I still have a day job (though I've reduced my time to 70%). Mr. Poop likes to spend time with us. And in case you didn't know, Dr. Pants has a lot on his plate. 1) He's currently in school to get a PhD and an MD, 2) he spends his mornings as a stay-at-home-dad

Dear Sewing Machine, - May 20, 2010 03:36

*originally published April 2010*
I know I've ignored you a little the last few months, my trusty friend.
It started off with the overwhelming sleepiness and nausea that came with the first trimester of pregnancy, then continued with an onslaught of hormone-induced headaches. You sat there on your table, staring at me, reminding me of all the things I needed to work on, all the ideas I had, and making me feel guilty about all the things I was putting off in the hopes that tomorrow I'd feel a little better. I know you didn't mean to make me feel bad, but I did. And you got kind

Lady Marmalade - May 20, 2010 03:24

A little while back we went up to Dr. Pants' grandma's house for the weekend. While we were there I made marmalade with the ladies of the Pants family, Dr. Pants' grandmother, mom, and aunt. I've never made any sort of jam or preserve before, so when Aunt Marla asked if I'd be interested I was thrilled.
We made two batches, so we used a lot of oranges - far more than the amount in that picture. It's a good thing Grandma Jo lives on a citrus farm.

Everybody likes cookies. - May 20, 2010 03:16

After a really awful, no good day, didn’t your mama ever make you milk and cookies?
That's a line from one of my favorite movies of all time, Stranger Than Fiction. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and go watch it now. It's sweet and hilarious and smart and has awesome music and delicious baked goods and writing and...just go watch it. I watch it every time I'm feeling down and it always makes me smile. You should watch it even if you don't like Will Ferrell in movies (and I don't, really - the only other movie of his that I like is
