Mr. Poop and Dr. Pants
planted a garden a few months ago. I mentioned
the dahlias last week, but now some of the other things they planted are starting to ripen. We've got lots of green tomatoes on our heirloom plant and the other dahlia is starting to show signs of blooming soon, but the most exciting thing is that we've been getting some fresh strawberries for a couple weeks.
Mr. Poop likes to pick the strawberries, so he keeps a watch on the deck to see if any are ready yet. "Mommy, the strawberries are green now. Maybe I pick the strawberries when they red." This was the daily update for awhile. Then one afternoon it was replaced with, "MOMMY! THE STRAWBERRIES ARE RED! I GO ON THE DECK I PICK THE STRAWBERRIES MOMMY!" And after a couple minutes of discussion about whether he could go on the deck without shoes or not (I was actually fine with letting him go barefoot, he thought maybe the deck would be too hot) we picked five beautiful strawberries.
Dr. Pants and I each ate one. Mr. Poop inhaled the others in the time it took me to eat my one and pick the camera back up to take these terrible pictures:
Mr. Poop snatching the last strawberry from the plate
Mr. Poop stuffing the last strawberry in his mouth while running away from me, concerned that I would attempt to take it from him so I could eat it myself
Also from the garden - we brought a couple dahlias in and put them in our bud vase and sat them on the partial wall that separates the kitchen from the living room. We don't often have fresh flowers around the house and every time we do it makes me remember how much I love having them around and then I tell myself I'll be better about picking some up, but I never do. Maybe having them grow on the deck will get me in the habit.
Also in the picture - our awesome friend Ian came over with his fancy new camera and took some family pictures for us a few weeks ago. We loved them so much we framed a few immediately.
