F.A.Q.:

You've got questions?

Q: Who the heck are you?
A: Have a look at our about us page. That should answer all of your questions!

Q: I put something in my shopping cart . . . but it disappeared! What happened?
A: This generally happens because of one of two reasons:
  1. You have cookies disabled in your browser - not much we can do about that. Cookies make our shopping cart work. Sorry about that. Turn on cookies, or send us an e-mail if you really want to order something, but can't bring yourself to use cookies.
  2. You held it in your shopping cart for a very long time. Since we sell many unique items, and people occasionally abandon their shopping cart, we empty idle shopping carts every now and then. However, we always give you at least a day to complete the check-out process, so hurry the heck up!
Q:I tried to put something in my cart/empty my cart/update my cart, and it's not working. Why?
A: Sometimes things can be a little sluggish with the shopping cart . . . if you're having a problem, refresh the page, and see if that clears it up. If you're still having trouble, shoot us an e-mail

Q: I paid for my order, but the items I bought are still in my cart. Whazzup?
A: Our order-tracking software should prevent this from happening. However, on the outside chance that something went wrong, and your cart went un-emptied, do the following:
  1. Leave the purchased items in your cart. This will prevent somebody else from buying the same stuff.
  2. Send us an e-mail, and we'll get it fixed in a jiff.

Q:The item I want to buy says "Reserved" or "Sold." What does that mean?
A: If an item is reserved - somebody has placed the item in their shopping cart. If they empty or abandon their cart, the item will become avaliable again, and you can (and should!) buy it. If it says sold - then the item is truly bought and paid for. It ain't coming back, but we haven't had a chance to remove it ffrom the catalog yet. If you really like an unavaliable item, send us an e-mail about custom items.

Q: I bought an item but . . . it's damaged/I don't like it/it's not what it looked like on the website/it never showed up/etc.
A: The PenguinBot refund and return policy is as follows: Please note, we don't accept items that are damaged (presuming we sent them un-damaged) for return. Also, don't sent us a return without confirmation from us first. Seriously, folks. No funny stuff. We've got a robot penguin on our side.

If you have any questions regarding our return policies, feel free to send us an email at information@penguinbot.com. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Q: I'd love to join your mailing list, but I hate spam! Whatever shall I do?
A: PenguinBot values its customers’ privacy greatly and will never, ever, not for all the robotic fish in the sea, share your personal information with anyone. Ever. Not even if you want us to. And you can leave our mailing list anytime you'd like. Believe us, it's safe.

Q: I bought something from you . . . how does shipping work?
A: Your order will be shipped within 3-5 business days after payment is received.

U.S. orders: All items are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. The shipping charge for all orders over $30 is $6.50. The shipping charge for all orders under $30 is $3.00.

Shipping information for the Canadians, eh: All items shipped to Canada will be shipped via USPS First Class Mail International. The flat shipping charge for items to Canada is $12 for orders over $30 and $6 for orders under $30. If you'd like your order shipped faster than First Class (Priority or Express) send an email to orders@penguinbot.com with your order number and we'll work something out.

Shipping information for all other international customers: If you are ordering from outside the United States or Canada, please email us for shipping charges.

Q:Will I have to pay sales tax on my order?
A: Sales tax of 7.75% will be automatically added to all orders for California residents. The Governator gots to get paid, yo.

Q:This website is neat! How did you do it?
A: This website is hand-crafted using HTML, CSS and Ruby on Rails. Lots of thanks to this great book on Ruby on Rails design, to Grant and Kyle for help and suggestions, and to Colin for turning us on to RoR.
